MATHEMAGICAL ADVENTURES (Grades 3-5)
MONDAYS | 2:40-4:10pm
Location: Room 214, second floor Computer Lab
Instructor: Ilya Bronshtein, Gentle Knowledge (www.gentleknowledge.com)
Class description: Do the impossible, win any argument, predict the future, and catch bad guys. Discover a whole new world of magic tricks, mental feats, and mind-bending paradoxes. Play games you've never seen before, tame computers with your newly acquired programming skills, create art, and travel beyond the realm of science to the far reaches of your imagination. You'll collaborate with friends and discover new ideas that have shaped mathematics, science, and engineering. Along the way, you will develop your lateral and spatial reasoning skills while learning new problem solving techniques covering a range of mathematical topics such as logic, constructions, weighings, 2D/3D geometry, parity, basic counting principles (combinations and permutations), number bases, basic number theory, and mathematical games. The class will be led by a Gentle Knowledge instructor in a friendly, non-stressful, but intellectually challenging environment. There are no prerequisites beyond a desire to engage in serious, yet fun, brain workout. If you have any questions about the class, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 617-744-9101.
This class is limited to 12 students.
