Q: Why is my FamilyID registration not going through?
A: If you have filled out all the appropriate information, your registration should go through without a hitch. It does for 99% of registrants. If there is a problem with registration, TRY AGAIN. You may be stuck in a queue. Some of our classes are extremely popular, and we'll have numerous parents trying to register simultaneously for the same spots.
Q: Registration is closed. Can I still sign up my child for a DASA class?
A: Please contact the DASA Director to inquire about available spots. If the class is not full, there may be an opportunity to enroll.
Q: Can I put my child on a waiting list if a class is full?
A: Yes! We encourage you to contact the DASA Director to be put on a waiting list. Spots sometimes do open.
Q: What happens if the instructor is sick or doesn't arrive?
A: We're all human. Just as kids get sick and need to stay home, sometimes one of our instructors gets ill or injured. If this happens, we will call you as soon as we find out. We also notify DEDP staff, so they know not to send your child to their DASA class.
Cancelled classes are made up at the end of the session. Please refer to the session's calendar for any class updates.
Q: Can my child eat during her/his DASA class?
A: No. Food is not permitted in the classroom due to school rules. You may pack a nut free snack, which can be eaten in the hallway outside the classroom before the start of class.
Q: When should I arrive to pick up my child?
A: Please arrive at 3:35 PM at the back of the school (Washington St side). If you are late, your child will be waiting for you with a DASA team member or an instructor outside the same door.
Q: I registered my child at 09:06 PM and it's telling me the class is full. How is that possible?
A: Some classes fill within 3 minutes. And you thought buying concert tickets was stressful.
Q: If my child decides not to attend his/her DASA class, or we have a scheduling conflict, can I get reimbursed?
A: No. There are no refunds for classes once your child has been registered and we have received payment. Refunds will only be issued if the class is cancelled.
Q: What happens if I sign my child up for a class and the class is cancelled?
A: We reserve the right to to cancel classes due to low or no enrollment. If we cancel a class for which you have already registered, we will contact you and offer you either a tuition refund for the canceled class or the option to take another class that has not fully enrolled.
Q: Who is teaching my child?
A: The DASA program is run by Driscoll PTO parent volunteers. We hire Boston-area teachers and licensed programs to teach our classes. Some classes are taught by Driscoll 8th grade students, and will be indicated as so. (These classes are monitored by a DASA adult.)
Q: How will my child get to her/his DASA class?
A: Only Kindergarten students will be accompanied to their DASA classes by a DASA team member. Children in grades 1-8 must walk to their DASA classes independently.
Q: What if my child is sick, or has an after-school obligation?
A: If you know your child will not be in attendance, please contact us to let us know! It prevents us from having to call you to report an absence.
